Nicolosamide is an anthelmintic medication used to treat infections caused by tapeworms. It is not effective against other worms such as roundworms or flukes. This medication is taken orally.

Nicolosamide works by blocking the absorption of glucose and oxidative phosphorylation by the worm, leading to the death of the worm.

In general, Niclosamide is well-tolerated, but its side effects may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Nicolosamide is included in the World Health Organization's list of essential medicines and is available in generic form.
